1. Reviewed how the BBQ Policy came about because several Condo owners wanted to have BBQ’s. Safety was the Board’s #1 concern.
2. Reviewed the handouts given to owners in attendance.
3. Explained that the Board was not aware until letter was received from our Lawyer of the 28-day grace period. This is required to provide time in which the Homeowner’s can respond. Emphasized that the 28-day period started the day of this meeting which is August 14, 2023. We will reconvene after the 28 days with a new BBQ Policy.
4. Discussed information from the California Code and Insurance Plan.
5. Feedback/Suggestions from Homeowners:
a. Contact the Fire Department for training and information. Any certification could be sent to Insurance Company.
b. Get clearer instructions regarding approval by Insurance Company. Longevity of Insurance Company.
c. Not much interest in Community BBQ.
d. Discussed pros and cons regarding gas/propane/charcoal grills.
e. Importance of someone watching the grill when being operated as well as the smoke effecting other neighbors.
f. Suggestion that Homeowners sign a form agreeing to responsibility of operating BBQ.
g. Suggestion that Homeowners may be able to get additional Insurance Policy to cover their own BBQ.
6. Board wants to develop BBQ Policy keeping in mind the feedback from the Insurance Company and Fire Department. With this information, finding the middle ground of making our Homeowners happy and safe.
